The concept of this collection is to show how geometric shapes can be used in order to make organic and body conscious fashion. There are several terms that are used to describe the various styles that will be shown: Bipolar is being used to describe an item that has two opposite sides this can also be known as asymmetrical, the purpose of the term being used in this way 1) many creative people are categorized as (bipolar) 2) I would like for the term to be seen as something that is something negative. The term rectangle is used because the fabric was cut from a rectangle. Another set of terms that are used in the Web Exotique n group are (Isolated) and (Twist) these terms describe the technique used in the tie dying process. Eyelash is simply the way that some of the fabric has been manipulated in order to create a soft furry look. The term Singlette is used to describe a one piece pull-on cat suit that can be worn in three ways. 1) a cat suit 2) high waisted leggins 3) a mini skirt and leggins.

The collection is also an exercise in tacking very little and making something dynamic.my goal is to take the viewer on a journey of texture color and contrast as opposed to distracting the eye with a myriad of intricate details allowing for the true appreciation of the fabric and the woman who chooses to wear these designs. Termed Artistic Ready to wear because the design process is taken from a more artistic approach as oppose to a design process. Many rules are intentionally broken in order to prove a point. Anything is possible. When creating this collection the idea of season never came to mind the idea is to create fashion that is interesting, wearable and multi-seasonal allowing for the wearer to get maximum wear out of their clothing investment. After all in these economic times fashion needs to be as accessible as possible for everyone.

One-of-a-kind Wearable Jewelry By Shana Kroiz

Native Baltimorean Shana Kroiz is acknowledged as one of the country’s leading experimental enamelists and jewelry educators. Throughout her career, Shana has been involved in teaching and promoting the growth of jewelry as a recognizable art form.

Shana is currently the Special Events and Workshop Coordinator of the Maryland Institute College of Art Jewelry Center, which she founded in 1992, and where she works as an instructor and studio artist. Previously, Shana was the Director of the 92nd Street Y’s Jewelry Center in NYC.

“My one-of-a-kind wearable jewelry celebrates ancient forms and the sensuous nature of the human consciousness. These pieces are universal in their appeal and personal in their effect. When worn, the jewelry interacts as sculpture making the body a pedestal.”

“Rich colors are created by the primitive use of a brush stroke and layering of experimental enameling or the brilliant colors of patina on silver which reflects the history of the art.”

With artistic integrity and fine craftsmanship, Kroiz captures the seduction of color and form while exploring and honoring the human spirit.
