Monique Guzman is an artist, mother, designer, dancer, entrepreneur, producer, & performer. She believes that art should be in everything you do. Live passionately and intensely. Monique is a self-taught first-born generation to US. This Chilean/Mexican American gets her inspirations from nature, the streets, being a dancer, travels, history, movies, all things vintage, music, cultures, color, emotion, comfort, fabrics, & pop culture. She wants to make every woman feel and remember how beautiful they are inside and out, not dwelling on imperfections but show off their beauty and feminine form. Monique’s interest in fashion started at very young age. She made her first top at age 14. Her Godmother and Grandmother were seamstresses at Neiman Marcus and Sakes 5th Avenue, respectively. She was exposed to couture before she even knew what that word meant. Monique combines gorgeous line and silhouette to accentuate feminine beauty and power. In January 2013, Monique was recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in Fashion Design. Monique is extremely excited and honored to be featured as an up and coming designer for her label, Siren Skirts in New York Fashion Week 2013.
Siren Skirts is set apart from many designers. Siren Skirts are one of kind knitwear prints all made by hand, in her design studio in the Historic Gaslamp District in San Diego, CA USA. No design will ever be used in the same print, ever. Only one will ever exist. Every piece is named like a painting. Siren Skirts uses the finest knits in the world, including fabrics straight from the mills of Italy and France. Every piece is a work of art. Siren Skirts are beautiful, unique, sexy, and comfortable. They can be worn casual, for formal occasions, urban settings, for travel & resort wear, or for the dancer; and the skirts can be worn as strapless dresses. Siren Skirts loves life and the Earth, an Eco-green company. Remnants are used for new designs while still staying true to its mission that every piece is a work of art.
