KAJ by Summer Jarrett is a Jamaican fashion brand that sells one of a kind pieces, created to celebrate the body of a confident, strong, independent young woman. The brand was born in 2011 when Summer Jarrett (the designer) was only 16 years old. Summer Jarrett has huge dreams for her growing business. In September she will be going to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia to do a tri-major in Fashion Design, Accessory Design and Fashion Marketing and Merchandising. With her three degrees she plans to turn her homeland- Jamaica, into the Caribbean mecca of fashion. Over the past 10 years Jamaica has paved the way for Fashion in the Caribbean, KAJ by Summer Jarrett intends to carry on Jamaica’s legacy of greatest by bringing up its level of style and fashion on a global stage. Summer is a young and enthusiastic fashion design with tremendous aspirations that she intends to bring to full fruition with her brand, KAJ by Summer Jarrett behind her.
Summer Jarrett is an eighteen-year-old born and raised Jamaican fashion designer; Jamaica has always been near and dear to her heart; most definitely a part of her identity. Her philosophy is simple, there are thousands of talented Jamaicans with the dreams and the drive to be something that this world has never seen before, and she has made it her obligation to encourage young Jamaicans to follow her example and have the courage to follow their dreams despite the challenges stacked up against them. She began designing when she was 14 years old; at first it was simply a hobby, but it wasn’t until she realized that she had a knack for it that she decided to make a career out of it. Her first step to a career in fashion was a surprise fashion show at her sweet 16-birthday party for all of her closest friends and family members to see. From that day forward her coincidental dream has become a reality.
Summer Jarrett originally designed couture, one of a kind dresses; but as she grew and developed as a designer she found herself designing a wider range of garments, and she expects to continue to grow and go into different aspects of design; such as footwear, swimwear, menswear, jewelry and accessories. But what sets KAJ By Summer Jarrett aside from many other fashion companies is that each of her pieces are one of a kind, Jamaica made, works of art.
