Gene Knighton was born in Albany, Georgia, 1977. His career in fashion began at the age of 19 when he was recruited by model scouts in Atlanta where he attended college. In 1997 he teamed up with friends to start a clothing company that sold t-shirts and hats. Several years later, he left the clothing company and started a fashion show production company which trained models and produced shows that were held at the University of Georgia and the World Congress Center. He introduced the first Gene Gimono collection in 2006 during a fashion design competition in Atlanta. The collection won first place in the highly acclaimed competition. Since then, the company has provided wardrobe styling for the host of a birthday party featured in MTV’s Sweet Sixteen in 2008, has participated and coordinated several fashion events for charity, and provided fashion design services to a host of private clients including Miss United States of America 2010. www.genegimono.com
