Maica Pilongo’s design aesthetics revolve around the concepts of simplicity, class and the power of femininity. Like any designer, she struggled on self-identity with her designs; she wanted to form pieces that would have a lasting impact. She explored her talents in different kinds of design backgrounds from kids’ fashion, wedding parties’ and even a bridal gown. Needless to say, her exploration journey has led to her evolving as a designer but currently, she gravitates towards Zero Waste Patterns while she buys scrap fabrics and turns it into classical pieces.
Maica Pilongo was born in the small city of Bacolod, which is nestled in the heart of the Philippines. At an early age, she was part of the world of elegance and grace for her family was in the business of fine jewelry, this is largely the reason why her pieces center on designs that imbue the essence of class. She was able to come out of her shell in the form of fashion, where she was able to embrace her art by using bold colors and daring designs that portrayed her hardships and passions. Maica, a self-taught designer, fought to pursue her dream of showcasing her talents in today’s New York Fashion Week.
