Vegetarian Viking is bespoke, handmade fashion on a mission. Each unique piece is created using ethically sourced American wool, with a focus on supporting female-owned small farms and endangered breeds of sheep. This wool selected one sheep at a time is then transformed into looks to rival the finest furs, using the art of the most ancient textile known to humankind. When finished, these one-of-a-kind works of art become heirloom quality wares that serve as animal and eco-friendly substitutes for both true furs and their microplastic shedding counterparts. It’s farm-to-fashion like you’ve never seen before.

Madeline White is passionate about animal welfare, traditional crafts, environmental rejuvenation, and sheep. Behind her handmade clothes are well-cared-for sheep with names and known histories, and it is her dream to see these highly personal pieces – full of love and legacy and hope for the future – make their way into closets across the world. Her farm-to-fashion approach helps to preserve rare breeds of sheep and support small-scale shepherdesses and shepherds, with whom she works closely in order to find the perfect fleece for every project. She then creates each piece using a craft dating back to 6 BC, joining the proud ranks of generations upon generations of textile artists. Beyond preserving animal welfare and ancient arts, her work opens the door to a future of sustainability; where our clothes come from the earth, can be passed across generations, and then be returned to the land when we’re ready. It’s fashion that is not simply sustainable but geared towards rejuvenation of both our planets and our relationships with the animals around us.
