Two Northeastern University students, Dorothy Mensah a senior and Krista Pottinger a junior, both with a love for fashion and their African and Jamaican cultures were determined to build a career in designing their own clothing. After receiving much guidance from an amazing role model named Mrs. Pottinger, and with much more courage and determination than experience, Krista and Dorothy started their own clothing line. L.O.R’s meaning came from the French term l’or, meaning gold. It symbolizes being rich in strength, individualism and wisdom.

L.O.R targets the youth of today that are known for expressing themselves through fashion. Our line is inspired by bold cuts and colors. We love mixing African kente cloth materials with elegant and vintage materials. Skin is a very prevalent theme in L.O.R. We love to design things that can be worn both for a night out with friends as well as paired with something that would be appropriate for a daytime adventure. L.O.R gives off a look of confidence and strength.

Both Dorothy and Krista will present their collection in this year’s Plitzs New York City Fashion Week February 2013 hosted by PLITZS Fashion Marketing. Their collection will be presented at 8 PM Saturday February 9th at the W Hotel in Midtown NYC.
