Charles Josef began to sew and design as a small child with his grandmother, a sample seamstress in the New York Garment District, as his teacher. This childhood interest turned into not only a lifelong passion but a true calling which shows in every garment that he designs. Charles has designed for men, women and children in every category from underwear to evening wear using his experience in classical tailoring as a guide for every garment. This love of Old world tailoring is the common thread in all of his garments. Charles started his business in Charlotte, NC then moved to Atlanta, Ga where he designed for Atlanta society women for 13 years, most recently he has moved his business to Asheville, NC and caters to private clients in the region as he transitions into ready to wear. His specialty is finely made luxury evening and bridal attire, however, a full range of custom design services are offered in his downtown Asheville studio.
At Charlotte Seen Fashion week I will be showing some of my newest evening and bridal pieces. All the pieces are available by special order and retailer inquiries are welcome. The collection will focus on the contemporary bride and is all about options and individuality as each piece can be customized to the client’s specifications. A few men’s pieces may show up on the runway but the focus will be on women. Clients have the options of private viewings or shopping in the atelier by appointment. The 2017 collection will show expanded bridal options on the runway as well as expanded men’s and sportswear selections in the atelier, all of which are finely made in Asheville, NC.
