Pugs Atomz is our Creative Director/digital designer, and Geli Williams is our Head Designer, she is also pretty good with a sketchbook. Before starting the company Platinum worked as a Bio-Chemist by day and fashion stylist by night to the stars. A stylist who decided to create designs which boasted a number of big name clients. Platinum has brought his vast experience from this role to the work he does now.
“Never lose the passion to go platinum” is the Iridium mantra. Eight years in the business and Iridium is having its best year yet. With vast levels of influence, Iridium is dedicated to redefining what it means to be fashionable. We make clothing that people can stand out in. What started as a t-shirt company is now a global brand encompassing every aspect of premium streetwear for men and women. Some call us street-wear sheikh, others say the next big thing. We say we are the best in customer service with an edge of music soul.
A native of the Bahamas, Platinum grew up working in is family’s grocery store learning all the aspects of
business from the ground up. He would take the money he saved, to go on shopping trips with his brother to get the newest sneakers and clothing that was popular in the States. After high school Platinum gained his education of Bio Chemistry from Chicago State University. During his college years he spent three (3) months in China and three (3) months in Japan were he developed a love and passion for fashion, after seeing the colorful pallets and ideas designers were using abroad. So upon his return he started to throw unofficial fashion parties at his home and loft spaces that appealed to Chicago’s young and fashionable crowd. During his last few years of college Platinum worked as a bartender in Chicago and was regarded as the best bartender in 2009 for his craft. He also worked as a fashion stylist/ buyer to celebrities and athletes worldwide. After graduation he took the money earned from bartending that was saved and decided to create his own Clothing Label named Iridium.
The label officially started in 2008 selling exclusively to Medusa’s Circle, Leaders 1354, Jugrnaunt and A.O.K Official. These Chicago boutiques stocked BBC, Ten Deep and a plethora of leading brands. In 2010 his line landed in more than 30 stores worldwide, and he decided to start an Iridium skate team which lead him from moving away from customization and more into creating clothing from scratch. By 2011 he had been recognized by R.A.W. as a talented designer having his line showcased in and on fashion media platforms worldwide. In 2012 he made a push through websites like Karma loop to get his brand in front of more people and eventually get those people to the Iridium web store. As it stands in 2014 that goal has been reached and the web store is thriving, as he looks for new ways to push the brand from one brick and mortar to franchises worldwide.
