CAFTAN SKALLI was founded in 1982 by Aicha Skalli, who’s the daughter of Zoubida LEMRINI, designer and owner of a sewing and embroidery school.
Since then, the brand travelled the world through over 100 fashion shows and exhibits in countless destinations such as Algeria, Egypt, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Emirates, Ivory Coast, France…
In 2011, her daughter Salima El BOUSSOUNI joins the adventure and gives a modern twist to the brand. Together, they will bring the brand to the next level, between the expertise of the mother and the innovative creativity of the daughter, they will concurred the world of Caftan.
Born and raised in Morocco, Salima el BOUSSOUNI is a fashion designer who specializes in caftans or more precisely her very own modern yet sophisticated version of caftans. She’s the 3rd generation in her family of designers which helped her develop an innate fashion sense from an early age, modeling since she was 9 years old and creating her first designs at 14. Salima moved to Canada where she resides for over a decade, completing studies st HEC and the Arts and Design Academy, after she came back she continued her studies and graduated from the ISCAE business school master’s program.
Her style combines Moroccan tradition and modern aesthetics, and her designs have been featured in many fashion events all over Morocco, but also in Montreal, Abidjan, Lisboa, Dubai and Paris.
Her collections went on display at the renown Galleries Lafayette, and in Amber Art Center where they were sold like art pieces. She’s been participating for the 3rd time to “Caftan”, the biggest and most prestigious event there is in the caftan industry and in 2017, she opened the show for 15 other haute couture designers that were chosen among 750 applicants. Her collection was a tribute to the late Lady Di since 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of her death.
