DESIGNER2013FEB8LaKeshia Motley2

Lakeshia Renee’ Motley was born and raised in Albany New York. She began drawing and sketching clothes around age 7 and was taught how to hand sew at age 12. In 10th grade she taught herself how to use a sewing machine and from that point on her interest in fashion design began to increase tremendously. Along with becoming the president of both fashion clubs at her high school, LaKeshia began to draw and design things that would later decorate the walls of her school. She graduated from the State University of New York College at Oneonta May of 2009 with a B.S. degree in Apparel & Textiles. . Her exceptional talent has also given her an acceptance letter from Parsons the New School of Design in Manhattan New York as well as a 3-page spread in the August 2009 issue of Green Craft Magazine showcasing her dress made out of newspaper. LaKeshia currently resides in Albany New York where she is working and gaining a better understanding of her craft.

LaKeshia’s collection highlights her clothing line “KaNarri” as she showcases 10 looks made up of a mixture of bright colors and structured silhouettes. The collection will show an emphasis on the technique of color blocking which LaKeshia is well known for. She was inspired by the bright colors seen inside of a kaleidoscope, the color combinations of a color wheel and Pop music. The collection will include color blocked dresses, fitted blazers, bright colored pants and fun skirt flounces. LaKeshia loves to design outside the box and would consider this style of design as her signature.

LaKeshia Motley will present her collection in this year’s Plitzs New York City Fashion Week February 2013 hosted by PLITZS Fashion Marketing. Her collection will be presented at 7:45 PM Friday February 8th at the W Hotel in Midtown NYC.
