Petrastellam was founded in 2016 by Luis Ruiz, Sophana Lychoy, and Samuel Villarreal in Houston, Texas. the word Petrastellam means rockstar and was a term they wanted to live by. The idea of Petrastellam started when Luis, Sopanha, and Samuel had the thought of creating clothing out of a passion for high-end fashion and inspiration from artists and creatives at the time being. Considering the birthing place of Petrastellam Luis, Sopanha, and Samuel set out to make a name for themselves through clothing and it all took place in a fabric store when all three creatives met each other. Petrastellam was something they connected with, something they had true passion even if it meant they could be momentarily rockstars.

Luis Ruiz is the Bridge to Petrastellam he always wanted to stand out from the rest of his peers and designing seemed like a gateway to help him achieve his ultimate dream of being a future designer. He knew in order to achieve his goal he had to stay motivated and dedicated to his goal. Here he is now submitting his Personal biography to PLITZS NYFW, getting closer to his life goal.

Sophana Lychoy is the odd one out of the three creatives, he is the different soul of Petrastellam and his will to design came after moving to the United States in 2012. He sought inspiration from local artists in Houston and major celebrities and in someway wanted to be like them. He would later come to find himself wearing high-end clothing and learning how to sew in order to keep up with the fashion of today’s industry. Sewing became a passion and sooner or later destiny brought him to meet Luis and Samuel in the fabric store. The rest is history.

Samuel Villarreal is the Eye of Petrastellam, he knew from a young age that he would be a somebody, that he would make a name for himself. It wasn’t until 2015 when he found himself interested in the arts of fashion and set out to be a designer himself. He met Luis and Sophana at a fabrics store and the 3 creatives decided to start the brand. Samuel actually proposed the name Petrastellam after several attempts to find a brand name. Unfortunately, Samuel was not as talented hands-on as Luis or Sopanha in sewing, but he kept an open mind and set out to be the creative director for Petrastellam.
